Welcome Spring to the Swimming Pool
This past week was an active one! Spring arrived and it was Easter, two of my favorite times of the year. We had a delightful family dinner at our home on Sunday, after church, complete with an Adult Egg Scavenger Hunt. I hope your Easter was relaxing, fulfilling and wonderful.
As Spring has arrived soon it will bring warm weather, which in turn will bring hot weather, which in turn will allow you to jump in that beautiful sparking pool! If your pool has been closed up for the winter opening will happen soon. Please watch for a detailed blog in the next week for instructions on opening your pool.
For those of you in the South whose pools have been operating all winter, remember to weekly check the chemicals to maintain proper water balance. I know that we often neglect this duty when we are not swimming and the pool "looks good". But, please maintain proper water chemistry all year long as water chemistry out of range can damage your pool surface and equipment. You want to be especially cognizant of phosphates in the water if you are in an area with those lovely Oak trees dropping pollen, or even Crape Myrtle buds. Please see the following article for information on Phosphates in the pool water.
You may be needing to clean your pool filter more often as the small pollen and buds can sneak through your skimmer basket and your pool filter basket. You could always install a Skimmer Sock in your skimmer basket to collect this small debris, they work great!
Happy Spring and as always, Happy & Safe Swimming~
