When to Change Pool Filter Tank O'Rings
Pool Filter Tank O'rings need to be examined every time you clean or change your pool filter cartridges and DE Grids. The tank o'ring is located between the top and bottom half of your pool filter. Once you remove the band from the pool filter remove the o'ring and examine it for wear and tear. If it is compressed at any point, if it has any small tears in thjr material or is cracked it is time to replace the o'ring.
Other signs of excesive wear is if the pool filter leaks water when it is under pressure or when the unit is turned on or off water is pushed out of the gasket area.
When you have purchased a new o'ring then you need to examine it for any defects. Use Magic Lube II Silicone lubricant to coat the o'ring. DO NOT use teflon as this will dry out the rubber. Put a generous layer of silicone lubricant on the o'ring and place it back in the location between the top and bottom of the pool filter. Carefully replace the top of the filter and tighten the band that holds the top of the pool filter to the bottom. O'rings should last several years with proper care. Examine the o'ring every time you clean your cartriges or de grids and re-lubricate as needed.
Happy Swimming!
